Kate Hudson’s parents pressured her to ‘divorce’
do you know what happened? Kate Hudson recently shared something that shocked me!
She was asked to ‘divorce’ her parents at the beginning of her career. Let’s dig a little deeper into this interesting story.
Mother said – “Never!”
When 16-year-old Kate was suggested to legally separate from her parents for a role, her mother, Goldie Hawn, flatly refused. “No – never happening,” Goldie’s answer was very clear.
Got a chance in ‘Party of Five’
Luckily, Kate soon got a small role in Fox’s popular show ‘Party of Five’.
“I got Party of Five and it was great,” Kate told at the Newport Beach TV Fest.
First role and school break
“I just took two days off from school to shoot, and my mom let me go,” Kate recalled.
“I was 16 and I was crazy about Party of Five, so to go on that set… I couldn’t believe I got a guest role. It was fun.”
Parental influence and identity
Despite coming from a film family, Kate worked hard to make her own identity.
She even refused to work in a film with her stepfather Kurt Russell because she didn’t want her career to be “defined” by her parents.
Mother-daughter relationship
Goldie Hawn recalled on Kelly Ripa’s podcast that when Kate was upset about always being asked about her parents in interviews, she explained:
“We have to accept each other. Yes, you’ll talk about me, and one day I’ll talk about you.”
Close Bond Today
Today, Kate and Goldie share a very close bond. “I live seven blocks from my mom, and she comes to my house every day,” Kate told the Los Angeles Times.
Choosing Your Own Path
Kate proved that it’s possible to make your own decisions and create your own identity while respecting your family.
She didn’t “divorce” her parents, but still made a name for herself in acting.
Don’t you think Kate’s story teaches us that sometimes it’s okay to say “no”? And having family with us makes the journey even more special!
