Could the ultimate Mother's Journey be this Lifetime Thriller?

You know Tori almost filled in for this?

Tori Spelling first turned down Lifetime’s Abducted in the Everglades’ leading part.

Dancing with the Stars dominated her calendar, and she just could not see the time working out.

But destiny had other ideas; the film’s part called for an unannounced departure from the reality program.

What caused her to alter her mind?

Tori took comfort in the film’s tenacity after an early elimination from DWTS, when she was shocked by her quick departure.

She grabbed the chance as the creators indicated they really wanted her for the part.

She said, embracing the serendipity that drove her to get into the project right away, “There are no coincidences in life.”

Wanting more information about the plot?

Abducted in the Everglades relates the story of Indiana native Beverly, a mother whose college-age daughter vanished over Spring Break in Miami.

Beverly teams with a tough boatman called Ray to locate her daughter; their hunt takes place in the huge, enigmatic Everglades.

For her, how great was the part?

Representing a driven woman in danger, Tori found great energizing effect. Even in a Lifetime thriller, she relished the thought of demonstrating she still has it.

“I love a good woman-in-peril story, and it reminded me that I can still kick butt on screen,” she said, describing the excitement of doing many stunts, like operating an airboat and traversing genuine alligator-populated swamps.

Do you think of movies as magic?

Spelling remembered the almost magical experience of filming: sending daily pictures to her five children, savoring the cinematic enchantment of the Everglades setting, and connecting with a staff more like friends than coworkers.

She related to the project as a mother as much as an actor as her character’s challenges reflected every parent’s greatest fear.

Originally abducted in the Everglades, Lifetime airs March 2 at 8 p.m. EST / 5 p.m. PST.
