• Over $1M in HBCU grants given out

• Focus on community empowerment

This past Saturday, Travis Scott from Houston transformed Texas Southern University into a dazzling winter wonderland.

The Grammy-nominated singer led the yearly food and toy drive for his Cactus Jack Foundation, which made thousands of families in the area happy.

Over 2,000 toys and bikes, including special Nike Cactus Jack shoes, Houston Astros gear, and basic supplies, were given away as part of the huge charity effort.

Through a relationship with the Houston Food Bank, 1,000 food bags were also sent to people in the neighborhood.

Which makes it a real family event Scott brought his daughter Stormi, who participated in giving gifts. Rapper Don Toliver, Love Island USA singer Serena Page, and even Santa Claus himself made special visits at the event.

What was unique about this year’s event?

• The Waymon Webster Scholarship Program was created.

• Over 2,000 toys were donated, which is a record.

• Family members of different generations taking part

• Better involvement of HBCUs in the community

Texas Southern University hosted the event, which showed off Scott’s strong ties to historically Black colleges and universities.

His family has a long history at several historically Black colleges and universities, such as Prairie View A&M, Grambling State, and Howard University.

At this year’s drive, the Waymon Webster Scholarship Program, which is named after Scott’s grandpa, was first used. The program has given over $1 million in grants to HBCU students since 2019.

Scott keeps giving young people power through his Cactus Jack Foundation and Project H.E.A.L. by giving them educational tools, artistic chances, and ways to help their communities.
