Tom Moores' Fireworks Lead Nottinghamshire

A Historic Streak Continues

The Notts Outlaws continue their historic march, having recorded their eighth successive Twenty20 win. The impressive feat marks a county record as the home fans at Trent Bridge witnessed yet another emphatic win by their team.

Securing the Home Quarter-final

While recording eight successive wins is a phenomenal achievement, the players and fans were quick to realize that the most important aim had been achieved. With the win against the Leicestershire Foxes, Notts Outlaws ensured a home quarter-final as the players celebrated the first innings success.

Leicestershire Get Off To A Great Start

The Leicestershire Foxes got off to a great start as they won the toss and chose to bat first. Ben Green cleared the stands with two massive sixes in the opening over. However, the momentum was soon lost as the Nottinghamshire bowlers started troubling the batters with a consistent line and length.

Left-arm Magic Helps Notts Clamp Down On Leicestershire

The left-arm spin of George Linde saw the Foxes collapse spectacularly. The South African spinner was too good for the Leicestershire batters as he picked up three crucial wickets while conceding just 31 runs. A fellow spinner and debutant, Binura Fernando, also troubled the Foxes as he registered two wickets.

A Lone Hero From Leicestershire

While their skipper Steven Eskinazi battled with a composed effort for the majority of the innings, the rest of his batting partners failed to capitalize on the good start. He was dismissed in the 32nd over after registering a well-struck 52 runs off 41 balls. This was the best individual score for Eskinazi as his teammates failed to get into the right rhythm

Leicestershire Fail To Post A Competitive Total

A total of 143 runs for Leicestershire was always going to be a challenging total for Nottinghamshire. The home fans at Trent Bridge would have fancied their chances on a pitch that had been shown to spin prodigiously.

Even though their openers got off to a good start, the rest of the batting lineup faltered under pressure as they struggled to get runs on the board. In the end, Leicestershire were all out for 143 with only two batters registering scores higher than 15 runs.

Home Team Falters Under Early Pressure

Chasing the target of 144, Nottinghamshire got off to a poor start as they struggled to cope with the left-arm spin of George Linde and Ben Green. George Munsey was dismissed at first slip after making just 3 runs.

Joe Clarke was also out soon after as he fell at long-off after two let-off chances. The fans at Trent Bridge were quick to show their disappointment as they felt that the home team had got off to a poor start.

Nottinghamshire Soon Settle Down

However, the home team’s woes were short-lived as they soon recovered from their early fumbling to set the platform for a steadier innings later in the innings. Nottinghamshire were in good shape at 76 for 3 as the required run rate never got out of hand.

Helps Team Set Up A Comfortable Chase

It was down to Tom Moores to accelerate the innings as he entered the crease with a confident and positive approach. Moores soon got into his rhythm as he took the attack to the Foxes.

He smashed three consecutive fours to remove the threat of Leicestershire from the innings. Moores seemed to have the strength and power to deal with any bowler as he hit the ball high and far with regularity.

The Final Blow

As the required number of runs kept on lowering, Moores decided to finish the job off in spectacular style. He sent the last ball of the innings over the mid-wicket boundary to record a six and finish with a magnificent unbeaten 51 runs from 33 balls.

The Notts Outlaws record a convincing six-wicket win on the back of a stellar individual performance by Moores. With 10 balls to spare, the home fans at Trent Bridge were treated to a most thrilling end to the encounter.

The Outlaws Are A Dangerous Side

As the Notts Outlaws look forward to the knockout stages, they may well prove to be one of the most dangerous teams based on the performance displayed on this surface. With a strong bowling lineup and a fearsome batting order, the rest of the competition may want to give Trent Bridge a wide berth.
