Chase Changes In One Over

TKR needed 212 runs to cross the finish line. Their chase began on a positive note.

A partnership between Colin Munro and Sunil Narine of 56 runs during the powerplay had given TKR fans reason to believe that the massive run chase is on.

However, Roston Chase sent a chilling message with his eighth over.

He cleaned up the TKR innings, removing Sunil Narine, Matthew Breetzke and Nicholas Pooran in quick succession. Three wickets in the space of 14 balls put the home side under immense pressure.

The home batters were struggling to keep up with the rising required rate after losing key wickets.

Pollard Gives TKR Hope

The veteran all-rounder hit a brilliant attacking innings as he smashed 65 runs from just 26 balls, which included six fours and five sixes.

For a brief moment it seemed as if Pollard had turned the chase on its head with his bold stroke-making.

However, his wicket in the 16th over proved to be a body blow to the TKR batters as they failed to keep up with the asking rate.

TKR finished up at 175/6 after 20 overs. The Kings registered a 36-run win.

Why This Win Matters

The match served as an object lesson in the value of a good start in a T20 match. Seifert gave the Kings a huge total while Chase removed three key wickets in the space of 14 balls. A combination of good batting and bowling saw St Lucia gain total control of the match. The win also earned them crucial points and a morale boost for the coming fixtures.
