Did Craig Conover’s love story end so suddenly?
Conover used the occasion to discuss events that occurred after filming, primarily his breakup with Paige DeSorbo, during the most recent Southern Charm season 10 reunion.
Craig, 36, explained in the reunion’s first segment, which aired Thursday, March 27th, “She initiated a termination of our connection via telephone, after the Thanksgiving holiday, exactly as Austen and I prepared for a live performance.”
Even though viewers saw hints of relationship problems on both DeSorbo’s Summer House and Southern Charm, Conover claimed he didn’t see any warning signs right away.
“My impression of our relationship was based on our private conversations, in which no warning indications were present,” the Sewing Down South owner explained.
Why didn’t he announce the split sooner?
In response to host Andy Cohen’s question about why he was reluctant to mention the split in a mid-December Watch What Happens Live appearance, Conover suggested that he first denied the breakup’s permanence.
“This wasn’t a final stop, a fresh start that allowed me to move forward right away.
For three years, we had carefully planned our future together, with her bringing back memories of family life,” Conover added.
“As a result, I walked a tightrope through December, when we continued to communicate.”
He restated that DeSorbo ended their relationship over the phone after a “idyllic” Thanksgiving weekend with her family.
“She expressed her choice by saying, ‘I think we have to part ways,'” Conover recalled. “My understanding deviated from that claim.”
What complicated exchanges ensued?
In fact, Conover revealed that he traveled to DeSorbo’s home in New York City after the Watch What Happens Live recording to ascertain their relationship status.
“I wanted to know what was going on,” Conover remembered. Then she confessed, ‘I am probably making a grave mistake, but I have to set out on a path of self-discovery.’
Later, when I asked her what she would do with the engagement ring, she said, ‘Keep it.
At BravoCon, we might formally announce our union. Cohen, 56, thought this was a good idea, but Conover’s co-star Molly O’Connell thought DeSorbo’s messages were “a plethora of contradictory signals.”
Conover thought, “The person she has manifested post-breakup is incongruent with the person I remember dating.”
“She participates in online debates and spreads derogatory statements about me, influenced by online commentary.
This baffles me because I didn’t do anything wrong. I must admit that I wasn’t a perfect partner and that I had personal problems to deal with, but this breakup has been interesting to say the least.”
When Conover received his possessions from DeSorbo, the fact of the separation became more real to him.
When did it all come to pass?
He mentioned her announcement on Giggly Squad on December 30th.
“She messaged me two days before the New Year, ‘I wish to inform you that I have publicly disclosed our separation on my podcast,'” he revealed.
“My belongings then appeared at my door. That was the epiphany.
Conover also confirmed that DeSorbo questioned her directly in response to reports that he may have been involved with someone else.
“‘Craig, I am not having romantic relations with anyone,’ she confirmed. Then she made some shocking remarks,” Conover went on.
“All right, she… It doesn’t matter. She only asked, ‘Why didn’t you try to get me back?’ “I have been trying to get you back,” I shot back. That is unfair.
‘It is evident that we both made a judicious decision,’ she concluded. “This was not a mutual decision,” I retorted. I wouldn’t have left.”
He stopped fighting for her, but why?
When Cohen asked Conover why he had decided to stop chasing DeSorbo, the Pillow Talk author said he understood that “one should not implore another for their companionship.”
“I just wished for her honesty from the beginning,” Conover continued. Bravo will broadcast Part 2 of the Southern Charm season 10 reunion on Thursday, April 3 at 8 p.m. ET.
