Chad Michael Murray reunites with Lindsay Lohan for Freakier Friday

After 23 years, the original Freaky Friday actors get back together for a reboot with a double body-swap journey.

• A star-studded group is back

• A new take on an old story

Chad Michael Murray recently talked about how excited he was to work with Lindsay Lohan again on the highly anticipated follow-up to “Freakier Friday” at Christmas Con 2024.

The 43-year-old actor said it felt like a happy high school reunion and talked about how easy it was to work with his old co-stars, even though the movie came out 23 years ago.

The popular group is back for the sequel, with Jamie Lee Curtis playing Tess Coleman and Murray playing Jake again.

Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons are some of the new talented people joining the group of stars.

How is Freakier Friday different from the one that came before it?
  • Storyline with two body swaps
  • Original cast return was pushed back
  • A fresh look at an old idea
  • Better special effects

Murray was honest about how hard it was to keep up with the complicated body-swapping plot. Now, Lohan and Curtis’s characters are switching bodies with two teenage girls.

He made a funny statement about having to do “homework” to remember who is who, which gives the production a cute behind-the-scenes look.

Fans’ favorite actors Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao are back in the movie to keep the link to the first one.

The director of the sequel, Nisha Ganatra, says it will be a new take on the body-swapping comedy genre while staying true to the spirit of the first movie.

When “Freakier Friday” comes out in theaters on August 8, 2025, fans will be able to see this magical meeting. The movie stars players from two generations and looks like it will be a fun family adventure.
