Kim Kardashian Heist: Elderly Robbers Avoid Prison Time

Justice Nine Years Later

Eight people were found guilty Friday in the notorious 2016 Paris robbery of Kim Kardashian.

The aging thieves, nicknamed “Grandpa robbers” by French media, won’t be heading back to prison despite their convictions.

Judge David De Pas cited their advanced ages—most in their 60s and 70s—and the nine-year gap between crime and trial as key factors in the sentencing.

The Mastermind’s Punishment

Aomar Aït Khedache, the 69-year-old ringleader who now leans on a cane, received eight years with five suspended.

His DNA on the zip ties used to bind Kardashian cracked the case wide open.

Wiretaps caught him orchestrating everything—from recruiting the crew to arranging diamond sales in Belgium.

Despite his elaborate planning, only a single diamond cross was ever recovered after being dropped during their hasty escape.

Partners in Crime

Three other main players—Yunis Abbas (71), Didier Dubreucq (69), and Marc-Alexandre Boyer (35)—each got seven-year sentences with five suspended.

Boyer stood out as the only young member of the elderly crew. Dubreucq missed his sentencing while undergoing cancer treatment.

Abbas, who served as lookout at the “No Name” hotel, apologized directly to Kardashian for the trauma he caused.

Family Connections

Harminy Aït Khedache, the ringleader’s 38-year-old son, drove the getaway car that fateful night.

He received five years with four suspended after his father penned a heartfelt apology to him.

The only woman convicted, 79-year-old Christiane Glotin, was Khedache’s former partner who acted as the gang’s “secretary” and got four years—all suspended.

The Terrifying Night

Kardashian testified she feared rape and murder when masked robbers grabbed her leg while she lay in her hotel bathrobe.

They bound her with zip ties, locked her in the bathroom, and ransacked her room for jewelry they’d spotted on social media.

Though not present for sentencing, Kardashian released a statement expressing gratitude to French authorities while acknowledging the lasting impact of “the most terrifying experience of my life.”
