See “Real Women Have Curves” explode on Broadway with dramatic music, energetic dance, and intense emotion.

The newest buzz on Broadway is what?
Real Women Have Curves is turning into a brilliant stage musical, and you can now get a special preview of its opening tune, “Make It Work.”
Directed with flair by Brayden Harry of Enter Studios, the music video presents us to a colorful ensemble including Tatianna Córdoba, Florencia Cuenca, Shelby Acosta, Carla Jimenez, Aline Mayagoitia, and One Day at a Time alumni Justina Machado.
Inspired by Josefina López’s original 1990 drama and its praised 2002 film, this contemporary remake excites both new and veteran audiences.
On stage, how is the narrative playing out?
Set in the summer of 1987, the story centers on Ana Garcia, a driven adolescent Mexican-American student hoping for college—away from East Los Angeles.
Ana must, however, reconcile her aspirations with her mother’s expectations when her family’s clothing company receives a key order for 200 outfits.
Showcasing a community of strong seamstresses banding to tackle their enormous task, the musical leaps directly into this tension.
The magic comes to life by whom?
Estela, played by Florencia Cuenca, commands the stage; she stands shoulder-to–shoulder with Ana’s mother, Carmen, played by Justina Machado.
Their strong duet emphasizes a mix of family obligation and fiery resolve, therefore defining the tone of the whole performance.
Tony Award-winner Sergio Trujillo’s superb choreography helps the musical to express raw, complex feeling into every well calibrated movement.
Why would the music be unforgettable?
“Make It Work,” the attractive opening piece, is a vibrant anthem combining inspirational words with appealing rhythms.
Designed by Grammy Award-winning Joy Huerta in tandem with Benjamin Velez, the song captures the will of the characters: “Make it work, make it work / There’s no turning back now.”
This lively chorus not only energizes the ensemble but also prepares the Broadway stage for a plot bursting with emotion, conflict, and victory.
When may the metamorphosis start?
Originally launching at the James Earl Jones Theatre in New York, the musical starts on April 1 and has an official opening set for April 27.
This play represents a major Broadway turning point after a spectacular debut at American Repertory Theatre at Harvard University in 2023.
Combining seasoned artists with new debuts, the play will enthrall viewers with its combination of poignant narrative and captivating musical force.
