Actress Danielle Vasinova shares her poignant account of surviving a near-death experience in December 2019.
Vasinova got COVID-19 months before anyone else did, and it was so bad that she passed out for three minutes. She is now getting ready for her parts in “1923” and “The Madison.”
Vasinova first went to an urgent care center in Los Angeles because she thought she had the flu. She was sent home because she had strep throat, but she got sicker and sicker, so her brother rushed her to the hospital.
She told him, “I think I’m going to die.” This caused a dramatic scene in the emergency room, where doctors and nurses were trying to save her.
What did Vasinova feel when she was so close to dying?
- Passed out for three minutes before being brought back to life
- Had all of their organs fail completely
- Been on a respirator for almost a month
- Had a feeling of peace while they were asleep
Vasinova had major medical treatments done on her while she was in a coma, such as pericardial window surgery and the insertion of tubes into her lungs.
She had to learn how to walk again after being sent home 20 days later, when she weighed only 90 pounds.
This life-threatening situation made her think about her mission. “I needed to figure out… why was it not my time?” she stated.
Vasinova fell in love with horses again and found comfort and healing energy at the barn, which became a source of strength for her.
She thanked the doctors, nurses, and people in the community who helped her through the experience.
Vasinova said she had “a sense of peace” while she was flatlined and remembered saying, “There’s nothing to be afraid of.”
She is now focused on getting fit and is “stronger every day,” even though she is still having some health problems. Vasinova stresses how getting back in touch with her faith helped her heal and value life more.
She will play Ata Waipa, a Native American character from the Comanche country, in “1923” in 2025. She was cast at the last minute because the original performer couldn’t ride horses, which is an interesting fact.
Vasinova also plays Kestrel in the new TV show “The Madison,” which also stars Michelle Pfeiffer.
Vasinova expressed her excitement about Michelle’s upcoming projects, describing her as a “rock star.” “She’s so cute!” Her story is an inspiration because it shows how strong people are and how connections keep us going.
