The voice of Mickey Mouse is one of only five official ones in Disney's 101-year history.

• Gives Mickey's voice in a TV show and in Mickey's Magic Railway at Disneyland

• Gives the drawing team at Disney credit for Mickey's continued success

• Does both famous speech work and serious acting in shows like "The Sticky"

The voice of Disney’s famous Mickey Mouse has now been given to five people, making Chris Diamantopoulos one of them.

The 49-year-old actor, who is currently in Prime Video’s “The Sticky,” thinks back on his amazing journey as the voice of the famous character from 2013 to the present.

The actor didn’t follow the usual steps to become Mickey. In the same way that Walt Disney did, Diamantopoulos got one of Disney’s most important jobs even though he barely finished high school.

He has done voice work for many things, such as the cartoon shows Mickey Mouse (2013–2019) and The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse (2020–2023).

“It’s humbling because I stood on the shoulders of giants,” Diamantopoulos says, referring to Walt Disney, Wayne Allwine, Bret Iwan, and Les Perkins, who were all voice artists who came before him in Disney history.

Who is the official voice of Mickey Mouse?
  • Walt Disney (the first voice)
  • From 1977 to 2009, Wayne Allwine
  • Les Perkins (for a short time)
  • Bret Iwan (projects from 2009 to present)
  • Chris Diamantopoulos (since 2013)

In addition to acting on TV, Diamantopoulos plays Mickey in Mickey’s Magic Railway, Disneyland’s newest feature. He feels very connected to this experience because he can share it with his children.

He says, “It’s a dream come true that I can take my kids on this ride where they can hear my voice and follow me.”

The actor says that Disney’s creative team, especially artist Paul Rudish, is to thank for Mickey’s long-lasting popularity.

He says that even though he does the speech, the character’s looks and attitude are brought to life by the hard work of artists and writers.

The voice of Mickey reminds Diamantopoulos of why he got into the entertainment business: “Every time I get to voice Mickey, it reminds me of why I got into this business: because of the magic.”
