The magic of Dean Winchester is still alive
After spending 15 years playing Dean Winchester, Jensen Ackles has a smile on his face.
From 2005 to 2020, he’s taken on every kind of supernatural creature on this cult-favorite show.
“It was like catching lightning in a bottle,” the 47-year-old actor says. “We never thought it would become such a huge phenomenon.”
After 327 episodes—in what became North America’s longest sci-fi series—Ackles is still amazed by the show’s impact.
“I wish I knew the formula. I don’t think there is a formula.
It was just a lightning strike, and I’m proud—and always will be proud—that I was a part of it.”
Brotherhood still goes on
Five years after the finale, Ackles and his co-stars Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) and Misha Collins (Castiel) still share a strong friendship.
“People can’t imagine how often we meet—to be honest, it’s less than once a month,” Ackles says.
This friendship recently reached an exciting point when Padalecki and Collins both met on the set of the upcoming fifth and final season of The Boys.
When Two Worlds Turned
Bringing his Supernatural family to the set of The Boys was an amazing experience for Ackles.
“It was really weird. It was like I was inviting my friends to dinner at someone else’s house,” he says with a laugh.
“I told them, ‘Listen man, don’t embarrass me. I have to stay here.'”
The details about his guest roles are still a secret, but Ackles can’t hide his excitement. “He was amazing.
I want to talk about it more quickly because it was an amazing experience.”

New Journeys
After the shooting of The Boys is over, Ackles is not going to stop.
He will soon return in the role of Soldier Boy in the prequel series Vought Rising.
“It’s a little different from the world of The Boys,” he hints.
“I only have a few scripts right now, so I know a little bit that we’re going to kidnap, but I’m very excited.”
In the meantime, fans can see him in the role of LAPD detective Mark Meachum in Prime Video’s new crime drama Countdown.
The Secret to Balance
Despite an action-packed career, Ackles maintains a quiet life in Connecticut with his wife, Danneel, 46, daughter Justice, 12, and 8-year-old twins Zeppelin and Arrow.
“When I’m home, I’m just home. I’m not Jensen the actor, I’m Jensen the husband, dad, friend, brother, son,” he explains.
“This stability in my personal life has given me a solid foundation for what I do.”
After Supernatural’s exhausting schedule—”half nine months shooting a 23-episode season”—Ackles jokes that his current 13-episode commitment “seems respectful.”
Some things, it seems, get even better with time.
