Chrisley family life has seen ups and downs
Today, we will talk about a family whose life has seen ups and downs in the last few years.
The story of Todd and Julie Chrisley shows how a daughter’s courage got her parents freedom from prison.
Emotional moment of election night
“When we saw that Trump had won, we both started crying,” Savannah Chrisley told.
Watching the election results with her brother Grayson, she knew that this was the only way to release their parents.
Todd also recalled this moment from prison: “When the announcement was made, all the prisoners started shouting with joy because they knew that now there was hope.”
Happy journey of release from prison
On May 27, President Donald Trump granted a full pardon to Todd and Julie.
The next day, May 28, both were released from prison. Initially, their sentence was going to be reduced, but the President changed the decision.
President’s phone call
“I was shocked when the president called me,” Savannah said.
She listened as the president said, “No, we’re going to give them a full pardon.
These people should get their lives back.”
Daughter’s fight
Savannah did everything possible to get her parents’ freedom.
She also spoke at the 2024 Republican National Convention and continued to raise her voice for prison reform.
“How do you say thank you to someone who gave you your freedom back?” Todd said about his daughter.

When the news of the release was received
Todd was told by a staff member in prison, “You’ve got a pardon.” At first, he didn’t believe it, then he called his daughter.
Julie also shared her experience, “I called Savannah and she said, ‘They did it, they signed it.’ I burst into tears.”
End of legal battle
This pardon ended the Chrisley couple’s legal battle.
They were sentenced in November 2022 to a total of 19 years in prison for 12 counts of bank fraud, tax evasion and conspiracy (though each sentence was reduced by about two years in September 2023).
What’s next?
The Chrisleys will now appear on ABC News Studios’ IMPACT x Nightline special “The Chrisleys: Life After Lockup” on June 29.
They will also appear on their daughter Savannah’s show “Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley” and resume their podcast “Chrisley Confessions.”
New beginnings
“I’m so excited that they’ll get a chance to share their story and be themselves again after two and a half years,” Savannah said.
This story shows how family togetherness and courage can keep hope alive even in difficult times. The Chrisleys are now ready for a new beginning.
