Hilary Burton: New Drama in the School Drop-off Line
When Hilarie Burton drops her kids off at school these days, she notices something different – all the moms are crazy about someone.
Not some new hero actor, but their husband, Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
“I’m enjoying it to the fullest as all the moms at school have a crush on my husband,” the 42-year-old actress reveals without any jealousy.
Journey from Villain to Charming Host
The buzz for Morgan, 59, grew even more when she took on the role of host of NBC’s reality show “Destination X” in May.
It’s a tremendous change from his two-year role as baseball-chasing Negan (“The Walking Dead”) – and viewers are seeing him in a whole new light.
Barrage of Messages From High School Friends
Burton’s phone is filled with message alerts. “I keep getting text messages from high school friends, and everybody says, ‘My wife or my mom has a huge crush on your husband,'” she says, laughing.
Even friends from Wilmington, NC – where he shot for six years for “One Tree Hill” – are confessing to their Morgan-Deewangi family.

He is great – Wife’s Green Signal
Instead of feeling threatened, Burton encourages this adoration: “It should be.
He is great.” This refreshing attitude reflects their solid bonding in a 16-year relationship (and marriage since 2019).
The couple has two children – Gus, 15, and George Virginia, 7.
The story behind the career change
Morgan was previously hesitant to host, telling PEOPLE, “I’m not Ryan Seacrest … I’m a little crass, and my sense of humor is quite sarcastic.”
Burton pushed him to move forward, giving him gentle but clear advice: “You’re not getting any younger.”
On-Screen Meeting during Grief
The couple recently shared an emotional on-screen moment when Burton reprised the role of Lucille, Negan’s wife, in “The Walking Dead: Dead City.”
Shooting took place in July 2024, when Morgan’s father died.
“The grief he was feeling for his dad, he channeled it in that episode,” Burton shares, which highlights the raw vulnerability behind working with them.
Burton’s simple principle for working with her husband perfectly summarizes their partnership: “Whenever Jeff asks me to do something, my answer is always yes.”
