Russia and Ukraine Exchange Drone Strikes as Tensions Escalate

Overnight drone attacks saw Russia and Ukraine intercepting over 100 drones each, with casualties reported in Kharkiv from missile strikes.

In a night fight between Russia and Ukraine, both sides launched over 100 attack drones, but most of them got shot down, according to military reports.

Ukraine’s air defenses managed to knock down 78 out of the 105 Russian Shahid drones that were sent after different places, including Kyiv, as the Ukrainian Air Force said.

The attack hit 15 areas, which led to a big show of force from the air, missile defense, and electronic warfare teams.

“We managed to stop the attack,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces said.

But, it’s still not clear what’s happening in Kyiv and the local government hasn’t said if anyone got hurt, according to Serhiy Popko, who runs the city’s government.

On the Russian end, the Ministry of Defense said they destroyed about 113 Ukrainian drones in four places, including Kursk.

They said they had the upper hand, with 73 drones taken down in the Belgorod area, which is close to Ukraine’s Kharkiv.

Things got even more serious when Ukrainian missiles hit some neighborhoods in Kharkiv late Wednesday, causing damage to at least one apartment building and hurting eight people, including a 3-year-old kid, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.

The fight is still going strong and is taking a big toll on everyone involved, including civilians.
