Amy Jo Johnson has just made the kids of the ’90s emotional.
The original Power Ranger took to Instagram to share an adorable throwback picture with Jason David Frank that left fans emotional.
“Thank you to whoever gave me this photo at the Niagara Falls Comic Con,” she wrote with a pink heart emoji. “We all miss this man.”
Frank, who played the legendary Tommy Oliver, departed in 2022 at just 49 years old, leaving a huge void in the Power Rangers family.
From temporary roles to fan favourites
Remember when Tommy was just going to be a character for a short time? Frank remembered it well.
“I was told, ‘Don’t get too excited. You are here for 10 episodes, your character will die on the show ‘, “he once said while speaking with Entertainment Weekly.
But fans became obsessed with the Green Ranger, and the rest is history.
When he first came on the set, Frank did not even think that he would have dialogues! “I saw that the mouth of the helmet did not move.

Tommy’s Colorful Legacy
What started as a Green Ranger became much more. Frank wore many colors in his Power Rangers career – White, Red Turbo, and Black Dino – which appeared in many spin-offs and kept generations of kids glued to TV.
Rock-star energy.
Johnson fondly remembers the vivacious nature of her co-star. At a 2024 comic convention, he laughed about the fun on their set.
“He had a rock-star kind of energy,” he recalled. “He would get on his ATV and drive away while shooting… People ask, ‘Where is Jason? “Then maybe 15 minutes later, a little dot would appear on the horizon and they would come.”
A friendship beyond the screen.
When Frank left, Johnson’s obituary said a lot about their actual relationship.
“Jess, you were beautiful and truly unique,” he wrote then. “My life wouldn’t be the same without your crazy, funny, caring, passionate and creative energy. I will always love you, dear friend.”
His latest post shows that time has not dimmed the memories or the love fans still have for the man who made Tommy Oliver a legend.
