Nick and Vanessa’s Marriage Secret: The Golden Rule That Works

Nick Lachey recently spilled the beans on what keeps his marriage to Vanessa strong after nearly 14 years together.

Speaking on SoFi’s financial podcast “Richer Lives,” the 51-year-old revealed their relationship cornerstone – a simple but powerful boundary they call their “golden rule.”

The Power of Separation

“Don’t bring work home with you,” Nick shared candidly.

This might sound like standard advice, but it gets tricky when you actually work with your spouse!

The Lacheys have co-hosted Netflix’s wildly popular “Love Is Blind” for five years now, making this boundary especially crucial for their relationship health.

When Home and Work Collide

Nick admits it’s not always smooth sailing. “Sometimes you show up for work and there’s an argument at home that bleeds over.

And sometimes there’s work disagreements that follow you home,” he explained. Their solution? Compartmentalize.

They consciously recognize when they’re “on the job” versus when they’re simply being a couple who’ve shared nearly two decades together.

Family First

Beyond their professional partnership, Nick and Vanessa are devoted parents to Camden (12), Brooklyn (10), and Phoenix (8).

The couple, who adorably share the same November 9 birthday, celebrated their joint special day last year with Vanessa posting a sweet kissing photo captioned: “19 years we have celebrated together – I’m always ALWAYS ‘By Your Side’!”

Keeping the Spark Alive

In a refreshingly honest February interview with BRIDES magazine, the couple revealed another relationship secret – their designated “hump day.”

Yes, they literally schedule intimacy for Wednesdays! Though Vanessa admitted they fell out of routine after relocating from Hawaii to Los Angeles last August, she expressed hopes to revive the tradition soon.

The Work Worth Doing

Perhaps most importantly, the Lacheys embrace the reality that great relationships require effort.

“Anything that’s worth having takes work,” Nick emphasized, noting they’ve benefited from couples counseling.

“There’s no perfect person. There’s just your person.” A beautiful reminder that even celebrity marriages need nurturing to thrive.
