Newsmax Settles Smartmatic Defamation Case Ahead of Trial

Newsmax reaches confidential settlement with Smartmatic, ending defamation lawsuit over 2020 election claims.

Newsmax, the cable news channel, just wrapped up a deal with voting machine company Smartmatic after a long legal fight.

They settled a lawsuit that said Newsmax spread a bunch of false stories about the 2020 election.

Smartmatic was all about saying Newsmax lied about helping Joe Biden win the election.

But Newsmax said they were just reporting on real news about possible election cheating.

Newsmax was happy with how things turned out and said they were cool with the deal. Smartmatic was also happy, mentioning they were still mad at Fox News for their part in the fight.

“Trying to trick Americans is not cool,” Smartmatic said, looking forward to their next court date with Fox Corp and Fox News. “We’re not giving up until we get justice.”

This news came right before they were picking a jury in Delaware, with their first court day set for Monday.

We don’t know the money details of the deal, but before this, Smartmatic hit a snag when a judge said they couldn’t ask for extra money as punishment.

Fox News pointed out that Smartmatic’s claims against them were just as bad, missing the mark on facts and trying to silence free speech.

They’re ready to fight back hard in court.

Also, Dominion Voting Systems just wrapped up a deal with Fox News last year, settling for $787 million after a big lawsuit over election stories.

The judge in that case was also going to be the one for the Newsmax case.
