The tabloids in New York’s high society have turned! Agnes van Rijn’s iron grip on her house is suddenly slipping from her fingers.

The Gilded Age: It’s all changed with money

Remember when Agnes used to rule the house with her magnificent arrogance? Those days are now numbered.

Season 3 begins with a fun role change that no one expected – cool sister Ada Brooke has now become the mistress of money with the wealth she inherited from her late husband.

What a turn! Agnes lost everything due to her son Oscar’s bad investment choices, while Ada suddenly found treasure through marriage.

Now the sister who always used to take orders is giving orders.

The first taste of power

“You’re talking about a woman who’s had this identity for decades,” says Christine Baranski about her character, Agnes.

“I was always the big sister, the boss… It’s a huge mental shift. “

But Ada is unable to handle her new authority. After being suppressed for years, she’s gone a little power crazy.

Cynthia Nixon is right: “In many ways, Ada is still a child… His muscles are weak to make decisions or lead people.

“It’s like no one has ever driven a car and suddenly he’s been given the keys to a Ferrari!

Brother-sister fights are different

Why is this so contentious? It’s not just about money – It’s a family matter.

“It’s very different to fight with a sibling,” says producer Sonja Warfield.

“There’s a lot of emotion… You can hug each other one minute and hug each other the next. “

Agnes naively believes that things can mostly stay the same. “I can remain the boss,” Baranski says of Agnes’s thinking. “He has money.

“But reality has its own intentions!

The power struggle is heating up

The battle has just begun. Nixon alludes to Ada’s “hunger for power,” while Baranski points out that Agnes will have to “give up power,” but “it’s a slow process.”

Will Agnes finally learn humility? Can Ada cope with being in charge? Sunday nights on HBO have become even more interesting now!
