Lamont Campbell, 51, faces murder charges after hijacking a bus, leading to a high-speed chase and the death of a man.
The police have figured out who’s behind the bus hijacking in Los Angeles, where a 51-year-old man named Lamont Campbell, who lives in L.A., is accused of stealing a bus and running off with the cops for an hour.
Now, he’s facing murder charges after it’s been said he took the bus by force early Wednesday morning and ended up killing a 48-year-old Hispanic guy, who was shot by Campbell with a semi-automatic gun.
The whole mess started around 12:46 a.m. when the Los Angeles Police Department got a call about trouble on a bus near Manchester and Figueroa Streets.
LAPD Deputy Chief Donald Graham gave a rundown of what was going down during a meeting that morning.
When the cops got to the scene, they saw passengers running away scared and hiding with the police.
“The officers quickly realized there was a suspect with a gun on the bus,” the LAPD said in their statement later that night.
They tried to stop the bus, but the suspect told the driver to keep going.
Lamont Campbell, 51, of Los Angeles hijacked a a bus holding the driver at gunpoint as he drove for over 1 hour down in the Knolls neighbourhood.

So, the cops laid down spike strips to puncture the bus’s tires, which did the trick and brought it to a stop at 6th Street and Alameda Boulevard.
Then, SWAT teams got in and made a plan to get inside.
Once they were in, they found a guy on the floor, so they called for medical help right away. They tried to save him, but he ended up dying at the hospital from gunshot wounds.
Even though the police are still trying to figure out why Campbell did it, he’s been charged with murder and is locked up at the 77th Area Jail with a bail of $2 million.
This whole thing is still under investigation as the police try to piece together what happened.
