Kyle MacLachlan Could Return to Wisteria Lane

Kyle MacLachlan hasn’t completely closed the door on a return to the drama-filled neighborhood Wisteria Lane.

The 66-year-old actor recently shared his thoughts on a return to the role of Orson Hodge in the rumored reboot of Desperate Housewives.

“Woh would be fun”

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, MacLachlan seemed genuinely excited by the possibility.

“Woh would be fun,” he said in his own special way. “So, Wisteria Lane still exists on the back lot of Universal. Woh is part of the tour!”

Not Just Nostalgia – A Fresh Approach

In spite of the openness, MacLachlan doesn’t just want to relive the old days. He will view any potential return with a fresh perspective.

“If Desperate Housewives comes back — and if he wants to call me back — I will have to look at the role and understand what he is thinking about the character,” he explained.

Instead of automatically saying yes to nostalgia, he will evaluate this opportunity as a completely new project.

“I’ll treat it as if I’m being offered something new and make my decision based on that.”

Learnings from Twin Peaks

MacLachlan’s careful consideration comes from experience. He followed a similar decision-making process when returning to Twin Peaks for its 2017 revival.

“David [Lynch] decided we weren’t going to continue where we left off, but create a completely different journey for the character,” he recalled. “And I got to play some different characters in the reboot.”

The actor clearly finds creative reinvention more appealing than returning to familiar ground.

Apart from Desperate Housewives

While fans await MacLachlan’s return to the ABC hit show that ran from 2004 to 2012, he is busy with other creative projects.

The actor, who has developed a devoted following online for his unique comedic style, recently collaborated with Lyft for Father’s Day content.

He showed off his versatility in the entertaining video, transforming himself multiple times – wearing everything from a Santa suit to various wigs and a bald cap.

This collaboration coincided with the launch of Lyft Silver, a service that makes ride-sharing more accessible for older adults through a user-friendly interface and enhanced support.

Whether Orson Hodge returns or not, MacLachlan will continue to charm audiences both on and off-screen with his distinctive presence.
