Comic Shop Owner Becomes Unlikely Hero
Kevin Sussman returns as Stuart Bloom in HBO Max’s new Big Bang Theory spin-off.
But this time, he’s not just trying to save his comic book shop – he’s trying to save the whole reality!
Exploding the Multiverse
When Stuart accidentally damages a device created by Sheldon and Leonard, he starts a “Multiverse Armageddon.”
Now our favorite weird comic book store owner must fix the mess he’s caused before the world we know comes crashing down.
Unique Hero Team
Stuart won’t face this cosmic challenge alone. He’ll be joined on his universe-saving mission by his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Brian Posehn), and the insufferable but brilliant Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie).
Familiar faces, new dimensions
The show promises to feature alternate-universe versions of beloved Big Bang Theory characters.
Will we see a bizarro Sheldon? Villain Penny? Robot Leonard? HBO has yet to reveal which original cast members might appear or how these alternate versions will be portrayed.

New paths
“I wanted to do something that would push me out of my comfort zone,” says Chuck Lorre, who is returning as executive producer alongside Bill Prady.
The pair created the original series and have been involved in all of the BBT spin-offs.
A mix of science and humor
Screenwriter Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand, Ready Player One) is joining the creative team, bringing serious science fiction credentials.
Prady describes the show as “a complex science fiction that maintains the favorite kind of mythology of those characters as well as the comedic elements.”
Technological leaps
Lorre hints that the scale of the production will be far greater than previous BBT shows: “There’s a lot of CGI.
There are a lot of special technical things — you know, in my career, a big production number was two people sitting on a couch and having coffee! It’s different.”
Growing BBT Universe
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe becomes the fourth entry in the franchise, following the original series, Young Sheldon, and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. No premiere date has been announced yet.
