A new face in medical comedies
Josh Segarra is stepping into a new role in Fox’s upcoming medical comedy “Best Medicine,” in which Josh will star alongside Charles and Abigail Spencer.
The series, based on the popular British hit “Doc Martin,” will begin production this summer in upstate New York.
What is the show about?
“Best Medicine” follows Martin Best (Charles), a talented surgeon who suddenly leaves his prestigious Boston career to become a small-town doctor in an enchanting East Coast fishing village of his childhood.
His straightforward bedside manner clashes with the quirky locals, particularly school teacher Louisa Glasson (Spencer).
Segarra’s character
Segara will play Sheriff Mark Milo, a lovable, big-hearted lawman who knows the town inside out but doesn’t have the sharpest mind.
Still reeling from his breakup with Luisa, he is eager to befriend Martin, which creates an odd love triangle as Martin and Luisa grow closer.

Behind the Scenes
The one-hour comedy is produced by Fox Entertainment Studios, with executive producers Ben Silverman (“The Office”), Rodney Ferrell, Howard T. Owens, Liz Tuccillo (“Sex and the City”), Mark Crowdy and Philippa Braithwaite. Fox Entertainment Global will handle worldwide distribution.
Segara’s Rising Star
Fans can currently see Segara in the Netflix limited series “Sirens” alongside Meghann Fahy, Julianne Moore and Kevin Bacon, where he plays Raymond, a restaurant manager and Fahy’s on-again, off-again boyfriend.
He is also winning hearts as school district employee Manny in the Emmy-winning “Abbott Elementary.”
His recent film work includes “The Threesome,” which premiered at the 2025 South by Southwest Film Festival.
Impressive Track Record
Segara joined the “Scream” franchise in 2023’s “Scream 6” and starred in Apple TV+’s “The Big Door Prize.”
Marvel fans recognize him from “She-Hulk,” where he appeared alongside Tatiana Maslany.
His impressive resume includes notable roles in HBO Max’s “The Other Two,” Netflix’s “AJ and the Queen,” The CW’s “Arrow” as villain Adrian Chase/Prometheus, and Fox’s “The Moodys” alongside Denis Leary.
With this latest addition to his diverse portfolio, Segarra continues to prove his versatility across comedy, drama, and everything in between.
