In a heartwarming conversation on his Dinners on Me podcast, Ferguson told his guest Martha Plimpton about an embarrassing text mistake that still gives her credit today.
I had your mom’s number saved on my phone as’ Mom’, Ferguson confessed, and recounted how their contact lists somehow got mixed up when they bought iPhones while working on A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2007.
When you’re feeling down
All of us need support from our parents. Ferguson was going through a similar situation.
“I was having a very bad time,” he shared. “I never ask my parents for help, but I sent a long message to what I thought was my mother that I was in a bad place, feeling depressed and insecure.”
Ferguson kept his heart open, not knowing he was texting an unknown person.
The ping that changed everything.
And then came the answer that broke my heart.
“The message is here! “Hi Jessy, Hi Honey. This is Martha’s mother, “Ferguson recalled, while Plimpton exclaimed,” Oh my God!”
A unique silver border.
But Shelley Plimpton’s response was not what Ferguson had expected.
“She was so sweet,” Ferguson recalled warmly. “I hope you’re OK,” he said. “”
