“It’s fantastic” says DC Studios boss
James Gunn has officially given his approval to Matt Reeves’ completed “The Batman II” script.
Speaking at the red carpet premiere of his film “Superman,” Gunn kept it simple but enthusiastic: “It’s fantastic.”
Script finally ready
Fans got their first glimpse of the finished screenplay last month when Reeves shared a photo of the cover page adorned with the iconic Batman symbol.
The confirmation is good news for those who have been eagerly awaiting the Dark Knight’s return to Gotham.

Two separate DC worlds
While Gunn is preparing to launch his new DCU with the “Gods and Monsters” phase that begins with “Superman” on July 11, Reeves continues to build his separate “Batman Epic Crime Saga.”
This separate universe already includes 2022’s “The Batman” and last year’s MAX series “The Penguin.”
Defending the timeline
The DC Studios boss has previously come to Reeves’ defense, bluntly telling fans impatient about the sequel’s delay to “stop bothering Matt”.
After a year-long postponement, “The Batman Part II” is now set to premiere on October 1, 2027.

Production to begin soon
Despite the long wait for a theatrical release, Reeves confirmed in January that filming would begin this year.
“We’re doing something where the story moves forward, but I hope people will be shocked by it,” he told Deadline.
What to expect
While story details are still under wraps, the sequel will continue Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of a younger, hardened Batman who is still finding his place as Gotham’s protector.
After facing the Riddler and meeting the Penguin in the first film, fans have been discussing which villains might appear next.
Confirmation of a completed script indicates that production is indeed on track, giving Batman fans some solid hope while Gunn’s new Superman takes flight this month.
