Shocking News
Keith Bynum hasn’t kept mum about the end of Bargain Block.
The 38-year-old renovation star dropped a bombshell on Instagram on June 22, confirming what fans had feared — after four successful seasons, the popular Detroit-based show will not be returning to HGTV.
“Life has been turned upside down.”
“The last four months have been a crazy journey,” Bynum revealed alongside her personal photos.
Her candid words painted a disturbing picture: “Our whole business and life has been turned upside down by a major corporation, but we’re still alive lol.”
That little “lol” says a lot – about keeping the humor alive amid corporate chaos.
Two Faces of TV
The renovation expert spoke candidly about his industry experience.
“There are a lot of good people in TV, but some are also the worst people I’ve ever met,” he wrote.
The stark contrast highlights the shocking reality that lurks behind the polished home transformations we see on screen.
Staying real despite everything
What kept Bynum and his partner Evan Thomas grounded in television’s ups and downs?
“Evan and I have always tried to do what we know and what we are good at, which is to express ourselves.”
That authenticity may have been the secret to the show’s success from the start of 2021, as viewers connected with his genuine approach as he transformed abandoned properties in Detroit.

Moving Forward With Anger
In a follow-up post on June 26, Bynum talked about “letting go of anger and grief” — which suggests the cancellation process wasn’t exactly a friendly one.
Fellow HGTV star Egypt Sherrod, whose show Married to Real Estate was also canceled, added support: “Part of sitting in the anger and sadness…
but when we clean up the mess, we can come back in a better way!!!”
What’s next?
Despite the setback, Bynum is optimistic: “We are very excited to soon announce what’s next!”
Their specialized approach to creating “stylish starter homes for first-time homebuyers” clearly connected with audiences, which suggests their renovation journey isn’t over yet – even if their HGTV chapter is over.
