No retirement is in the cards for 77-year-old David Letterman. Letterman TV FAST Channel on Samsung TV Plus was unveiled in an interview he gave to GQ, in which he disclosed his continued activity at such an advanced age and expressed amazement at being so active.
Starting in 1982 on NBC’s “Late Night with David Letterman,” Letterman then moved to CBS’s “The Late Show with David Letterman” in 1993. He lasted 33 years as a late-night presenter until retiring in 2015.
Even though he was stepping down, Letterman still thought retirement was a fantasy. As long as one’s health is good, he said, the desire to create would be there.
Letterman expressed that he ultimately discovered his passion and purpose during his transition from his program.
His visits have continued since then, and in February 2022, he commemorated the 40th anniversary of “Late Night with Seth Meyers” by reflecting on the difficulties of his previous program, “The David Letterman Show.”
Letterman emphasized the value of perseverance in the entertainment industry, particularly when starting and making mistakes.
He pointed out that overcoming obstacles is an integral element of the path. After hosting over four thousand programs, he came to “The Late Show” in November 2023 to talk to Stephen Colbert about how much he missed it.
Despite the end of his late-night program, David Letterman keeps busy with his Netflix series “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman,” which he’s been hosting since 2018.
His unwavering love for his job and unwillingness to retire completely are signs of his steadfast commitment to his art.
