The Friends cast Courteney Cox’s reveal behind-the-scenes story of TV’s biggest hit show that every fan would want to know

The Huddle That Connected TV’s Most Famous Friends
Even two decades after Friends ended, Courteney Cox still remembers the little rituals that made the show special. Speaking at the Inc.
5000 conference, the 61-year-old actress recently shared how the cast prepared before going in front of the live audience.
Moments of “Good Luck” before the Magic
“We would come into a huddle and say, ‘Alright, everybody! Good luck!’ and then give each other a hug and a high five,” Cox recalled.
This warm tradition is special because Cox admitted she doesn’t “pump up” before public appearances these days.
But back then, this small moment of connection helped make Friends a cultural phenomenon.
When the Laughter Had to Be Held Back
The show’s popularity with live audiences created unique challenges of its own.
Cox revealed that at times producers had to quickly cut the laugh track so the actors could continue their lines.
“Everybody knew what would bring the biggest laughs,” she explained and said the cast would adapt to the audience’s energy while flowing with these moments.

Today’s Different World
Cox’s current projects are completely different from the days of Friends.
“Friends used to be shot in front of a live audience, and that was a different thing,” she thought. “Now I do things that get filmed.”
This shift shows how unique the filming experience of Friends was, which created an energy that is rarely seen in today’s TV landscape.
Meeting Again After Years
When the cast reunited for HBO Max’s Friends: The Reunion in 2021, Matt LeBlanc told PEOPLE that “it felt like no time had passed” and that they “continued from where they left off.”
Whether they revived their famous pre-show huddle before the filming of the reunion is a mystery, but the bond between these actors is clearly still strong.
Friendship for the rest of life
The connections made on set continued even after the show ended.
Cox previously shared that her daughter Coco “couldn’t have a better godmother” than Jennifer Aniston, which proves that these friendships weren’t just for the cameras.
Even 20+ years after the final episode aired, these small behind-the-scenes moments explain why the chemistry between Monica, Rachel, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, and Ross felt so authentic to millions of viewers around the world.
