Charges against Sunny Hostin's husband withdrawn, insurance company apologizes!

American Transit Insurance Company has completely withdrawn its federal lawsuit against Dr. Emmanuel “Manny” Hostin, the husband of The View’s Sunny Hostin.

The insurance company previously accused the respected New York orthopedist of fraud along with nearly 200 defendants in a complaint filed in January.

The allegations that rocked their world

The original complaint alleged that Dr. Hostin “knowingly provided fraudulent medical services” and improperly billed American Transit “in exchange for kickbacks.”

These serious allegations threatened both Dr. Hostin’s professional reputation and her family’s privacy.

Full retraction and apology

In a surprising twist, ATIC not only withdrew the lawsuit “with prejudice” (meaning it cannot be filed again) but also agreed to pay all invoices submitted by Dr. Hostin.

The company has also announced a settlement with Dr. ATIC, expressed deep regret for any “public speculation” against Hostin, Sunny and their children.

Why the sudden change?

American Transit explained that they had named Dr. Hostin only because “he owns a small part of a surgical center” that was involved in the controversy.

After “further discussion” and investigation, they realized their mistake and fully retracted.

The Hostin family fought back

The couple’s attorney, Mark Geragos, was unabashed about what happened: “In what could be called a clear attempt to weaponize Sunny Hostin’s celebrity, they tried to negotiate a settlement.”

But the Hostin family “did not bow down” and instead “fought back”.

A family’s honor restored

Geragos declared the family “fully vindicated” after ATIC’s retraction.

The insurance company, which primarily covers Uber, Lyft, and taxi drivers, initially claimed that such fraud is “widespread” in New York state, thanks to its no-fault laws.

The couple behind the headlines

Sunny and Manny Hostin have been married since 1998, when they met at a bagel shop after a church service in Maryland.

They have two children, Paloma and Gabriel. Dr. Hostin occasionally appears on The View, including on his wife’s 2023 birthday episode.

For the former federal prosecutor and her physician husband, this legal battle has finally reached its end, with their reputations intact.
