The empty place in the heart
Even after five years of Broadway star Nick Cordero’s death from COVID, the pain in Amanda Kloots’ heart is still fresh.
The 43-year-old actress shared her feelings on Instagram on July 5.
“Yaar, I miss you a lot,” she wrote, such things that bring out the pain hidden in some corner of the heart.
Small memories that are no longer there
Kloots does not remember only the big moments, but those small things of everyday that no trace is left now.
“I miss your laughter, your music, your expressions… even that irritating sound when you would blow air out from between your teeth,” she shared.
These little memories – holding hands, walking together, hearing his voice – hurt the most.
Elvis: His Papa’s eternal soul
His son Elvis, who is now 6 years old, walks with his papa’s face every step of the way.
“He is your carbon copy,” Kloots said in his post, which also included a video of Nick performing the song “Live Your Life” and clips of Elvis.
This resemblance is not just something to behold – it is both soothing and painful.
“I feel guilty that I raised him when you only got 10 months. It’s not fair.”

90 days that changed everything
Before dying at the age of 41, Cordero bravely fought for 90 days at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
During the departure of the Waitress and Rock of Ages star, “his family surrounded him with love, singing and praying as he left this world,” as Kloots said in 2020.
Celebrating him
Despite the pain, Kloots never forgets celebrating in the city.
When Cordero’s 46th birthday came in September, he shared old photos and gave a powerful message: “Just because someone is dead, it doesn’t mean you can’t remember their birthday.”
For him, Nick’s birthday was “a day when the world became a little brighter.”
Moving Forward
Kloots keeps Cordero’s light alive by showing strange reunions with Nick in Elvis’ photos, celebrating birthdays, and through painful anniversaries.
His story reminds us that love does not end when the heart stops beating, and sometimes, the people we leave behind remain alive more than those whom they left behind.
