Why did the 2025 Critics’ Choice Awards get pushed back?
Due to the current wildfires in Los Angeles, the yearly awards show has been pushed back again. It will now take place in February.
It was originally set for January 12, but that date was pushed back to January 26 and then again because of the wildfires in the area.
Where did the event mean to happen in the first place?
The Critics’ Choice Awards were supposed to take place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, which is only a few miles from where the Palisades fire started.
Because of the damage the flames have caused, the Critics Choice Association had to put safety ahead of the event.
What did Joey Berlin, CEO of the Critics Choice Association, say about it?
“This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community,” Joey Berlin said in a message of condolences to the people impacted by the flames.
Our hearts and prayers are with those fighting the terrible fires and with everyone who has been impacted.
Which movies and TV shows got the most votes?
With 11 nominations each, Conclave and Wicked are tied for most picture nominations. Dune: Part Two and Emilia Pérez are next with 10 each.
On TV, Shōgun has the most nods with six. Other shows, such as Abbott Elementary and Hacks, each have four.
What other things have changed because of the wildfires?
Because of the fires, the voting time for the Oscar nominees was also stretched. The reveal will now happen on January 23.
24 people have died in the L.A. fires, and 23 are still missing. The fires have also destroyed thousands of acres across the area.
How are the L.A. Flames doing right now?
- The Palisades Fire has burned more than 23,000 acres.
- The Eaton Fire has burned 14,117 acres.
- The Hurst Fire now covers 799 acres.
- The amount of containment is between 18% and 97%.
